Apple shows how to use it’s new custom-face shields

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced at the beginning of the week that the company’s new custom-face shields has been produced and will be shipping to medical workers around the world. He also talked about how the company has sourced over 20 million face masks through its supply chain and has been working with governments to supply them to medical workers around the world in a bid to help fight COVID-19.

On Tuesday April 7th, the company released a support guideline and an “how-to-assemble” video for medical workers that will be using its face shields. The shield made out of plastic will protect medical workers who are on the frontline of the pandemic.

When using the face shields users should avoid exposure to high heat and must handle shield gently to prevent drops and scratches. Shields can also be sterilised and reused. It has been evaluated to be compatible with 70% Ethanol,70% Isopropyl Alcohol, 6% Bleach and 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

The company will be shipping one million face shields this week and will consistently ship one million per week after that. Apple will also be distributing in the US first before shipping globally. The shield will be added advantage of equipment to health workers in the frontline of the pandemic, who are at high risk of contracting the virus.
